TERMINOLOGY | INDIVIDUAL DOG REGISTRATION | TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP
| LITTER REGISTRATION
ASSIGNED REGISTRATION NUMBERS
| KENNEL NAME REGISTRATION | FEE SCHEDULE
I. Each person who breeds or deals in any way with dogs which are registered or eligible for registration with the North American Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of the U.S.A. (NAMASCUSA) must maintain complete and accurate records of such dogs for a period of five (5) years.
a. Breeding records must contain pedigree on sire and dam, copy of the litter application or litter record, the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all persons purchasing puppies, adult dogs, or retaining stud services. Records may include other information deemed pertinent by the owner and/or breeder. For example, additional information could be pictures of the dogs, height, weight, etc.
II. NAMASCUSA may refuse to register any dog or litter or to record the transfer of any dog for the sole reason that the application is not supported by the records required by these Rules and Regulations.
III. The NAMASCUSA Registry Office will notify the NAMASCUSA Board of Directors when a breeder has registered ten (10) or more litters in any twelve (12) month period. The NAMASCUSA Board of Directors may authorize an on site inspection to investigate breeding records, practices and treatment of dogs. Such inspection may occur with or without notice to the breeder.
IV. Any person who willingly or admittedly falsifies registration records or who pursues unethical registration or breeding practices that render it impossible to identify an individual dog or the parentage of a specific litter, who practices inhumane or cruel treatment of animals, or who refuses to permit an authorized NAMASCUSA Registry inspector to examine the breeding records and practices or to examine one or more of their dogs that are NAMASCUSA registered or eligible for NAMASCUSA registration, may be suspended from all NAMASCUSA services and privileges by action of the Board of Directors.
V. NAMASCUSA reserves the right to perform or have performed DNA test(s) on any dog registered or applying for registration with NAMASCUSA. All expenses related to performing the DNA test(s) shall be paid as determined by the NAMASCUSA Board of Directors. The Board may order that a NAMASCUSA representative be present during required DNA testing.
a. If any owner, co-owner or lessee of a dog(s) refuses to cooperate with NAMASCUSA in DNA testing, the NAMASCUSA Board of Directors may revoke or deny the registration papers on the dog(s) and may also suspend any or all NAMASCUSA services and privileges of the owner/co-owner/lessee(s).
b. If DNA testing proves the falsification of the pedigree of one (1) or more progeny from a litter, the NAMASCUSA Board of Directors may revoke the registration papers of the alleged sire and the alleged dam and all of the progeny from that litter. NAMASCUSA may also revoke the registration papers of any or all registered litters produced by the sire and/or dam prior to the DNA test.
c. Any dog proved by DNA testing to have falsely stated parentage may have its and all offspring's registration papers revoked, corrected or changed to a non-breedable registration.
VI. All forms, photos and fees necessary and pertinent to the registration of a litter, individual dog, transfer of ownership, kennel name, etc. must be completely and accurately submitted to the Registry Office for processing. These become the property of NAMASCUSA upon receipt and may not be returned. Only applications containing original signatures from all parties will be accepted (no copies, emails or faxes). Paperwork submitted from other registries and organization (i.e. ASCA, AKC, NSDR, CERF or OFA) required for the registration should be photocopies. Any falsification of these applications by a breeder and/or owner will be subject to disciplinary action by the NAMASCUSA Board of Directors. The Registry Office will not accept any Registration Applications or supporting documentation that appears to have been altered.
If a correction is necessary to an application being submitted, a single line should be drawn through the incorrect information; the corrected information should be inserted and initialed by the owner/breeder/lessee. The application should then be accompanied by a signed affidavit stating the reason for the correction.
VII. Registry forms are available from the Registry Office, the Membership Coordinator and via the NAMASCUSA internet website.
VIII. The Registry Office will not and can not intervene in breeder/buyer disputes.

The following guidelines will be utilized when registering a litter:
a. The litter application must be complete with the signatures of the owners(s) or lessee(s) of the sire at the time of mating and of the dam at the time of whelping.
b. If the sire or dam is not registered with NAMASCUSA, a copy of its registration and 3-generation pedigree complete with registration numbers and registered names must accompany the application.
c. Effective with litters whelped June 1, 1998, or later, hip certification from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, the Institute for Genetic Disease Control, or Guelph, Ontario, Canada Veterinary College rated as "Fair" or better. PennHip evaluation must reflect that the dog is non-dysplastic. Hip certification must accompany the application or be on file with the Registry Office for both the sire and dam. An Orthopedic Foundation for Animals or Guelph Veterinary College preliminary hip evaluation rated "fair" or better will be accepted on dogs less than two years of age. After 2 years of age, a permanent certification is required.
d. Effective with litters whelped June 1, 1998, or later, a clear eye exam certificate performed by an ACVO veterinarian and indicating both eyes to be normal must accompany the application or be on file with the Registry Office for both the sire and dam. If any abnormal exam findings are recorded on the exam certificate, a CERF certificate will be required. Exam and/or CERF certificates must have all dog information completely and accurately filled in.
e. One Individual Registration application form for each puppy registered in the litter will be returned to the litter owner. This application is to be given to the owner of the dog at the time of sale, with full instructions on the completion of the form. Effective with all registrations received after June 1, 2001, the breeder must indicate the quality of the puppy by marking next to the statement "Not to be Bred" if puppy is designated as not breedable. Puppies marked "Not to be bred" will be registered, but will not be accepted as the sire or dam of any future litters. This will be indicated on the dog's registration number by an "X" suffix. If the seller does not provide the application at the time of sale, the following information must be provided to the buyer until such time as the application is available:

If a correction is necessary to an application being submitted, a single line should be drawn through the incorrect information; the corrected information should be inserted and initialed by the owner/breeder/lessee. The application should then be accompanied by a signed affidavit stating the reason for the correction.
i. No litter registration certificate will be issued. The litter registration number will be on the litter's Individual Registration Application forms provided by the Registry Office. The litter owner is to retain the litter registration number with his litter records.
i. Any request for duplicate registration applications must come from the litter owner in writing to the Registry Office with all pertinent information, i.e., Litter number, Sire, Dam, and Date of Birth. FEES REQUIRED.
